Issue
Unable to start ACE/Server Services - database brokers can't start
Error: "Database lock files exist in ACEDATA Directory"
Cause
sdserv.lk, sdlog.lk files left over from an unclean shutdown
Read-only file permissions on "path"\ace\data. This would be the case if restoring the data directory from a CD.
Resolution
Remove the read-only setting using attrib or Windows Explorer. Check the "path"\ace\data directory for and *lk files. Remove them if you find any, and make sure server processes are down. Check the file permissions on "path"\ace\data you may find them to be set to read-only (this would be the case if restoring the data directory from a CD).

The database is locked in normal operations, but the ACE server lost connection to it, and we can neither stop nor start nor use the database.  Database could have been shut down unexpectedly, or without proper shutdown. need to;

1. Uncheck the [ ] start automatically under the RSA ACE server in the Windows Control Panel  or RSA Control Panel

2. reboot, so that all processes are stopped, and RSA does not start automatically

3. delete the lock files in C:\ace\data sdserv.lk and sdlog.lk

4. Start the RSA ACE server in the Windows Control Panel

5. test Database Administration Host mode and remote admin and other connections

6. When everything checks out, re-check the [ ] start automatically under the RSA ACE server in the Windows or RSA Control Panel
