DNS Resolution does not work on new installs
Resolution
New appliances may not be able to resolve host names using DNS. This is because the local DNS server has itself configured as a root zone.
In order for DNS operations on the appliance to return to normal, the root zone must be deleted.
- Go to the Appliance Desktop.
- Go to Start -> Programs -> Administrative Tools -> DNS
- Drill down to the Forward Zones folder in the DNS Server Administration Utility.
- If there is a folder present named """"."""" , then delete it.
- Restart the DNS Server service.
DNS operations will return to normal at that point
