How to extract the contents of a unix pkg file without installing it.

pkginfo only gives inforamation about what packages are installed
Resolution
The Solaris command pkgtrans can be used to extract the contents of a pkg file. The following command shows how to extract the contents of any package file in the path to the temp directory.
vmplanet@opensolaris-vm:~$ pkgtrans *.pkg temp
The following packages are available:
1 AXMa48sjsw RSA Access Manager Agent 4.8 for Sun Java System Web Server
(sparc) 4.8
Select package(s) you wish to process (or 'all' to process
all packages). (default: all) [?,??,q]:
