About the Distribution Key and Password Generation Method in SecurID Software Token (SoftID)
Resolution
Select a distribution key.

The default is 2.0.

If you select 1.0, all token records are given the file extension INF. If you specified One Token per File or One Token per Floppy, the name of the file will be the user?s default login. If you specified Multiple Tokens per File or Multiple Tokens per Floppy, the name of the file will be the first user?s default login.

If you select 2.0, all token records are given the file extension SDTID. If you specified an issuing method of Multiple Tokens per File or Multiple Tokens per
Floppy, the name of the file will be the serial number of the first token in the file, followed by the letters MULTI. If you specified an issuing method of One Token per File or One Token per Floppy, the name of the file will be the user?s default login.

If you select 2.0 with password, the token record file will be generated with the same names and extensions as are associated with issuing a 2.0 token.

Select a password generation method.

The password generation method specifies the type of password that an administrator will use to install or uninstall a user?s Software Token.

The default is Static.

If you select None, no passwords will apply to Software Tokens issued.

If you select Static, you can enter a single password of your choice that will apply to all Software Tokens issued.

If you select Default Login, the user?s default login will function as the password.

If you select Combination, the user?s default login will be appended to the password you enter.
