Tip: upgrade to Oracle 19c (for deployments with RSA-provided database) make sure /u01 has plenty of free space
Hi all,
to spare you from a failed upgrade attempt:
If you choose to upgrade the Oracle 12c to 19c make sure that /u01 has enough
free space. The upgrade routines move the database files online (whilst the
database is running). At that time both, the 12c and the 19c binaries will be
installed and of course taking up space. you should have enough free space for
the Ora 19c binaries and at least the largest database file.
If in doubt, make sure /u01 has <50% space used when you start the upgrade.
In case I missed the part in the documentation that mentions this: my bad.

already way more. so we never ran into any issue there. /tmp is easily
extended and then scaled back if storage space is an issue.
