My organization is running Authentication Manager 8.7 P 4. I see that there is an Authentication Manager 8.7 SP1. Is this an update to AM 8.7 P4? And if it is, where is the download to update my AM 8.7 P4 to AM 8.7 SP1?
Hi i have the same issue. There upgrade path lately changed.
Normally i would just upgrade within 8.7 with patch 1 patch2 patch 3 etc.. Now there is a SP1 and SP2 and SP1 has also a hotfix you must isntall before going to Sp2. SP2 had not SP2 patch 2.. I mean reallly RSA??? i am soo confused now.
Do we even need SP1 or SP2?
If you check the format of the release, you'll notice the following: 8.7.1.0 means:
8.7 -> major release
1 -> service pack
0 means patch.
A Service pack is alway 'heavier' than a patch
If you applied 8.7.0.4, it means you have:
major release 8.7
Service pack - none
Patch version 4
so the answer is: yes, apply service pack 1, as it's more recent than the patch 4 of the release 8.7.0

The upgrade path actually has not changed. We did release several service packs, patches and hotfixes all at once that did get a tad bit confusing. The naming conventions for service packs, patches and hot fixes are as @csoustelle (Customer) outlined above.

At version 8.6 and 8.7 in the picture is dark box with text "Patches". Does that mean, that all patches has to installed, or can we go directly form 8.6 -> 8.7 -> 8.7.1 without patches between those versions?

it is a bit unclear, but the black boxes labeled Patches mean that both Authentication Manager 8.6 and Authentication Manager 8.7 can be upgraded directly to the next version without applying the patches. I will let the team that made the documentation know that it needs some clarification.
You can go from 8.5 > Run the Pre-Upgrade Check Tool > 8.6 > 8.7 > 8.7 SP1 > 8.7 SP 1 patch 1 hot fix 1 > 8.7 SP1 patch 2 > 8.7 SP2.
I assume, 8.7 SP1 patch 2 can be skipped...when the target is 8.7 SP2

Apologies for the upgrade confusion. Typically when you upgrade Authentication Manager you can skip the minor versions and go right to the next major version or service pack. So, for example, you are running Authentication Manager 8.7 patch 1. Those servers can be upgraded to Authentication Manager 8.7 SP1 without having to install the interim patches of patch 2, 3 and 4. Easy peasy lemon squeezy as one of our marketing videos once said!
