Configure Session Handling

Session handling settings control the number of concurrent sessions in the deployment. Session handling can also limit the number of concurrent sessions allowed for an individual user, and can determine how to handle users that exceed that limit.

Session handling settings are instance based. You can apply primary instance settings to all instances.

Session handling settings might not be immediately visible through the replica instance. Data should replicate within 10 to 20 minutes.

Before you begin

You must be a Super Admin.

Procedure

  1. In the Security Console, click Setup > System Settings.

  2. Under Console & Session Settings, click Session Handling.

  3. Select an instance.

  4. Click Next.

  5. In the Maximum System Sessions field, specify the maximum number of concurrent sessions allowed.

When the session limit is reached and a user attempts to open a new session, the system allows the new session, but closes the existing session that has been inactive for the longest period of time.

  6. (Optional) If you want to restrict the number of concurrent sessions allowed to each user, select Restrict Per User Sessions and do the following:

    • In the Maximum Per User Sessions field, set the session limit.

    • For User Over Limit Handling, specify how to handle users that exceed the session limit.

When the user reaches the user session limit and tries to open an additional session, the user can either cancel the new session or close an existing open session. If the user closes an existing open session, the system closes the open session that has been inactive for the longest period of time.

  7. If you configured the primary instance, you can choose to apply the same settings to all replica instances in the deployment.

  8. Click Save.
