SecurID 4.x for iOS and Android app adds cloud-based multifactor authentication to the software token functionality already present in the SecurID 3.0 app. Users have one convenient authenticator to safely sign into their company accounts. This enhancement simplifies the management complexities of your hybrid deployment and minimizes user disruption as you move to the cloud with the same authenticator app.
What Users with Existing Authenticator Apps Can Expect

Users can download the SecurID 4.0 app from the Apple App Store or Google Play. Just open the app and tap Get Started to add an account.
| Note: The SecurID 4.0 app does not support devices that are jailbroken or rooted. If the user’s device becomes jailbroken or rooted after the app is installed, the app will automatically become disabled. |
SecurID 3.0 App Users
SecurID 3.0 app users who upgrade will be glad to see that 4.0 offers the same functionality and look-and-feel as they have in 3.0. Based on feedback from our loyal users, we made this app even better with the following enhancements:
- Reducing the number of taps for users with only one token by automatically opening the keyboard for PIN entry. The PIN field is selected by default.
- Helping users with low vision by making the Submit button larger on certain cards, as well as by enlarging the PIN and PIN field hint text.
- Helping our Korean users navigate the app with Korean language support.
After these users download the SecurID 4.0 app, existing tokens on the phone are automatically ready to use.
SecurID Software Token App 2.x Users
Users who upgrade from the 2.x app will benefit from the new card-style user interface that allows them to easily rename and reorder their software tokens, in addition to viewing, importing, and deleting them from their device. Users can quickly generate tokencodes for any imported token on a single screen, whereas the old app forced users to do this through multiple screens.
In addition:
- You can easily extend the lifetime of expired tokens in a way that is transparent to users. You can use the Security Console to renew tokens without the need to contact users. This feature benefits users with tokens that are provisioned from SecurID Authentication Manager 8.2 or later.
- Users save time! They can now replace tokens with the same serial number without manually deleting the token first.
After users download the SecurID 4.0 app, existing tokens on the phone are automatically ready to use.
RSA Authenticate App Users
Users who are replacing SecurID Authenticate 3.9.x with the SecurID 4.0 app will see their MFA accounts in the new card-style user interface, where they can easily rename and reorder their accounts, in addition to adding and deleting them.
When replacing the old app with the new SecurID 4.0 app, users simply go to the app store to download and install the app.
What will happen to the Authenticate app?
The SecurID Authenticate app will continue to be available in the app stores and supported going into 2022. You have time to build your communication and switchover plan.
Look out for the End of Support advisory from the SecurID Team in 2022 with a specific timetable on when the app will no longer be supported.
Have New Users?
New users who do not currently have an authenticator app installed need to:
- Install the new SecurID app 4.0 and register it using a QR Code from a self-service portal such as SecurID My Page.
- Import a token, if they will use SecurID token.
Want to Try the SecurID App 4.0?
The SecurID app 4.0 is available through a phased rollout of the app that began January 10, 2022 and is expected to complete on January 17, 2022. When the app is available in your app store, search for SecurID to download and install the app.
