Issue
Microsoft’s internet information server must be installed prior to starting the RSA authentication agent for web for IIS installation
Cause
- There are insufficient features and roles for IIS installed.
- The RSA web agent exe file is not run as administrator.
Resolution
- Verify that the following features and roles are installed, including all the role services under them:
• Common HTTP features
• Application development
• IIS 6.0 management compatibility
• .NET Framework 3.5 must be installed
• Application development

• .NET Framework 3.5 must be installed
Microsoft Windows Server 2012 comes prepackaged with .NET 4.5 and Windows Server 2012 R2 comes prepackaged with .NET 4.5.1. However, .NET 3.5 is required.
- Make sure that the IIS Admin service is set to Automatic and running and is not disabled.
- Open a command prompt as an administrator and run the .exe installation file of the RSA Authentication Agent for Web for IIS from it.
