Summary
RSA has released a security update to address CVE-2026-31431 (Copy Fail), a high-severity Linux kernel vulnerability affecting appliances based on SLES 15 SP6. A patch update addressing this issue has been released.
Affected Products
- RSA Identity Router: 12.24.x or earlier
Details
Third-party components are updated for the following vulnerabilities:
- CVE ID: CVE-2026-31431
- CVSS Score: 7.8
- Vulnerability Type: Local Privilege Escalation
- Component: Linux Kernel (AF_ALG / algif_aead)
Recommendation
RSA recommends that customers who upgraded or installed Identity Routers before the patch release times listed below upgrade their Identity Routers at the earliest opportunity.
If the Identity Router is running version 12.24.0.0.17 or earlier, it is upgraded to version 12.24.0.0.18 and its operating system is patched. If the Identity Router is already running version 12.24.0.0.18, the operating system is patched. The displayed Software Version does not change unless the Identity Router is upgraded after the next Identity Router release.
The fix for this vulnerability is also included in the upcoming Identity Router 12.25.x release. For release schedule details, see RSA Release Notes: Cloud Access Service and RSA Authenticators.
After upgrading the Identity Router, the Last Software Update value is updated in UTC.
To verify that the upgrade was successfully applied, in the Cloud Administration Console, select Platform > Identity Routers, expand the arrow next to the identity Router, and confirm that one of the following conditions is met:
- The Software Version is 12.24.0.0.18, and the Last Software Update (UTC) reflects a date at least one day later than the patch release date for the respective production region, as listed in the table below.
OR
- The Software Version is 12.25.0.0.0 or later (when available).

Customers who previously downloaded and deployed the Identity Router Appliance Image version 12.24.x must also upgrade their deployed Identity Routers to ensure that the security update is applied.
If the Identity Router is already running version 12.24.x, the Identity Router status in the Cloud Administration Console does not change to Update Available for this security update.
Customers must upgrade the Identity Router to the fixed version by following the instructions in Update Identity Router Software.
