RSA will soon release a new SecurID 3.0 app in June 2021 that will make it easier than ever for iOS and Android users to manage multiple software tokens, generate tokencodes, and view token information all in one place. The process for importing tokens and using them to authenticate will remain the same in the new app. You do not need to distribute new tokens to users who already have tokens on their devices. Users who already have software tokens do not need to re-import a token when they download the new SecurID app. The SecurID app will replace the existing token app.
With the all-new card-style user interface designed for improved usability and greater accessibility, users will be able to easily view, import, rename, and delete software tokens on their device. Tokens will display on cards that users can view in a grid or list that they can re-order. In addition:
- You will be able to easily extend the lifetime of expired tokens in a way that is transparent to users. You use the Security Console to extend a token’s availability. Users will not see token expiration dates in the app.
- Users will be able to replace tokens with the same serial number without deleting the token first.
Note: If a user attempts to download a token to a device that is is rooted or jailbroken, the user is warned and the download is allowed to proceed. In a future release, the app will prevent the download and the user will be unable to use the app.
The new app has a new name – SecurID – and a new icon in the Apple and Google Play app stores.
