Issue
The network adapter is blank after deploying RSA Authentication Manager 8.7 SP1, 8.7 SP2, 8.8 or 8.9 on VMware ESXi.
Cause
The cause of the issue is that the virtual machine is configured with SUSE Linux 8/9 and the VMXNET3 network adapter, which is not supported.
Workaround
Please refer to VMware article at URL this article from VMware that discusses that the SUSE Linux Enterprise 15 guest operating system option is not available in hardware version 13 (ESXi 6.5) and earlier.
Perform the following steps on the ESXi box:
- Turn off the target Authentication Manager virtual machine.
- Select Action > Edit Settings for the target Authentication Manager server.
- Select the Virtual Machine Options tab and click General Options.
- Select SUSE Linux Enterprise 12 (64-bit) from the Guest OS Version pull-down menu and click Save.
Notes
To add a network adapter, perform the following steps in addition to the workaround:
- Select Actions >Edit Settings for the target Authentication Manager server.
- Select the Virtual Hardware Options tab, add a new network adapter, and select [E1000E] or [VMXNET3] from the adapter type pull-down.
