How to configure Java servlet Engine for iPlanet Web servers
Cause
When utilizing the Web server administration Web page to configure the Web server java servlet engine, the location of the configuration page is not readily apparent and varies with the Web server version
Resolution
- If using iPlanet Web server 4.1/6.0, authenticate into the Web server administration page. At the main Web site after authentication, you do not need to click on "manage" to select the particular Web server to configure. Instead, select the "Global settings" tab at the top and then the "Configure JRE/JDK paths" button on the left-hand navigation panel. Depending on the platform the Web server is installed on, select either the JDK radio button or the JRE radio button and supply the respective JDK or JRE path. Click "OK" at the bottom and restart your Web server to activate the changes.

- If using iPlanet Web server 6.1, authenticate into the Web server administration page. At the main Web site after authentication, use the drop-down menu to select the particular Web server to manage, then click "manage". Click the "Java" tab at the top and then the "JVM general" button on the left-hand navigation panel.  Depending on the platform the Web server is installed on, supply the respective JDK or JRE path. Click "OK" at the bottom and restart your Web server to activate the changes.
