Issue
NIC Collector service stops on server using TSM
Resolution
This can affect all servers. A certain file called obd.tsm grows in size to over 5-6 GB on the system partition c:\. This effectively filles up the remaining free space and forces the NIE cluster to shutdown collection services on the Collector, and can cause issues on other servers.

This file was located in the directory c:\tsmlvsa\tsmlvsacache\volume{(long string of text)}\.

Disable both the TSMLVSA and OFS and scheduled backup jobs on all appliances.

This directory is created as part of the TSM Logical Volume Storage Agent (TSMLVSA) process and is used for a TSM-specific feature called Open File Support (OFS). This feature allows TSM to backup files that normally could not be backed up because they are being used by an active process by creating snapshots at different times.
